Tottenham hero Harry Kane backs himself to take Champions League by storm

The 24-year-old scored in either half to help his side claim what could be a crucial win

Wednesday, September 13, 2017

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has backed himself to score against ‘anyone in the world’ after bagging a brace against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

The England international scored in either half to help his side claim what could be a crucial win towards their aspirations of qualifying for the knockout stages.

Spurs suffered a disappointing European campaign last season as they suffered a group stage exit despite being in a favourable looking group with Monaco, Bayer Leverkusen and CSKA Moscow.

But having already matched his two-goal tally from his previous stint in the Champions League, Kane feels there is more to come.

“I’m very proud to get where I am and to produce my best against the best – that’s what it’s all about,” Kane told talkSPORT.

“It’s a very pleasing night for myself personally and for the team as well. I just have to keep doing what I’m doing and working hard.

“I fancy myself to score against anyone in Europe or in the world. I just have to take that confidence going forward and with the players I have behind me setting me up, I should be ok.”

The win marked a welcome positive result for Spurs at their temporary Wembley home, having failed to muster a victory from their opening two Premier League fixtures.

And Kane is hoping the memorable win will go some way to putting an end to any supposed ‘Wembley curse’ talk as they attempt to launch another title challenge.

“It’s important to build on it,” Kane added.

“Of course we’ve had a fantastic result here tonight – the fans were buzzing; we’re buzzing – so now we just have to back that up on the weekend.

“Swansea will come here and try and make it difficult to play. But we’ve got a good win and now we have to make this place a really tough place for people to come.”
